Warmsworth Lions -v- Edenthorpe 3-1
16/04/08
Warmsworth finished the season on a high and guaranteed 3rd place with a closely fought game against Edenthorpe. Both team were eager to win with third spot at stake. Edenthorpe started the better and their pressure told when they deservedly took the lead. Warmsworth began to get more of the ball and quick accurate passing started to create chances of their own. A superb driving run down the right from Ben Middleton led to the Lions equalizer as he squared the ball the Edenthorpe defence turned the ball into their own net. The second half was a tense affair as both teams pressed for a winner. Warmsworth got their noses in front with Lyndon Thompson racing down the left before cutting inside and finishing low into the bottom corner. Edenthorpe responded by throwing more men forward and only a world class save from keeper Christian Norton stopped Edenthorpe from leveling the game. With Edenthorpe chasing the game more and more space became available to exploit for the Lions front men.Jake McFatter hit the post before Lyndon Thompson again burst through to score an almost identical goal to his first.

Carcroft -v- Warmsworth Lions 0-1
02/04/08
Warmsworth blew the premier league wide open with a superb victory over league cup winners Carcroft. A win for the home side would have seen them move to the top of the league but a solatary goal from Jake McFatter settled the game in favour of the Lions. The sensational win put the Lions joint top with favourites Branton although Branton do have a couple of games in hand. Every player can be proud of an outstanding performance that shows we can beat any team and deserve to be title contenders. A special mention to our superb keeper Christian norton whos bravery and superb skills kept out the carcroft attackers.

Warmsworth Lions -v- Askern 2-0
16/03/08
Warmsworth kept up the pressure on the league leaders with a comfortable home win against Askern. The home side were never really stretched and goals in either half sealed the points. With only two games remaining both against tough opposition this win was essential if Warmsworth are to keep the title race open to the last game of the season

West End Bentley -v- Warmsworth Lions 1-1
09/03/08
Warmsworths title dreams were just about ended after a 1-1 draw at West End Bentley. This was always going to be a hard game with Warmsworth losing their centre half before the game and then their attacking right back Reece Ibbotson had to pull out due to injury during the warm up. Despite a lot of changes and reshuffling the Lions took the lead with a great goal from captain Aiden Hall. West End put the Lions defence under a lot of pressure but the away team held onto their lead till the break. The home teams pressure finally told when they scored from a corner after the Lions defence failed to clear the ball. Despite being under constant pressure Warmsworth had a great chance to take the lead and all the points when Lyndon Thompson couldnt keep his shot down and the ball sailed over the bar from 6 yards. A point was well deserved and a special mention must go to the team members who stood in and played out of position to help the teams cause.

Edenthorpe -v- Warmsworth Lions 2-3
02/03/08
Warmsworth got back to winning ways with a hard fought but well deserved win away to Edenthorpe. After a tight opening spell Warmsworth took the lead through Jake McFatter. Edenthorpe struck back within minutes with a superbly executed free-kick which flew into the top corner giving the Lions keeper no chance. Warmsworth started the second half poorly and soon found themselves 2-1 down after good work from the home teams attack. This finally spurred the Lions on and in a blistering 5 minute spell Warmsworth struck twice to stun the home side.Jake McFatter getting his second of the game and Curtis Clayton getting the other. Both team had chances to score before the final whistle but the game ended with no more goals

Warmsworth Lions -v- Branton Jnrs 1-2
24/02/08
Warmsworth lost ground on the league leaders after losing their second home game in a row. Despite taking the lead and dominating much of the game a frak goal 10 minutes from time sealed the Lions fate. Jake McFatter gave the Lions a deserved lead before a superb strike in the top corner brought Branton level. Warmsworth continued to press forward in the second half and the away side looking happy to hold on for a draw Warmsworth were dealt a cruel blow. A long ball over the Lions defence was overhit and as the Lions keeper moved forward to collect the ball it took a nasty bounce sidewards leaving the keeper stranded and a easy tap in from 2 yards for Brantons striker. The Lions tried in vain to get the equalizing goal and were left to rue missed opportunities late in the game.

Warmsworth Lions -v- Tickhill 0-1 Qtr final League Cup
3/2/08
Warmsworth lost their grip on the league cup with a shock defeat at home to lowly Tickhill.
The Lions dominated front the first to the last whistle but wasted countless opportunities to score. Tickhill never looked like scoring in a one sided first half but with the Lions front men not on top form the first half ended at nil nil. The start of the second half was a little slow until tickhill shocked the home team by scoring with their first and only effort of the game. Warmsworth piled on the pressure in the final fifteen minutes but more wastefull shooting and last ditch defending kept the Lions at bay.
Man of the Match - Jake McFatter

Warmsworth maintained their pursuit of the league leaders with an emphatic away win at conisbrough. The home team never really got going and Warmsworth were never in any trouble.A superb first half saw Danny Bee, Aiden Hall and Jake McFatter all hitting the back of the net. The second half was again dominated by the Lions but the fourth and final goal didnt arrive til the last 5 minutes of the game, Danny Bee getting his second of the game.

Warmsworth Lions -v- Sprotbrough & Cus 2-0
20/01/08
Warmsworth took another step closer to the league leaders with a well deserved win over local rivals Sprotborough. In very tough conditions the Lions adapted to a very sticky pitch and put their neighbours on the back foot from the first whistle. A cracking 20 yard strike from Danny Bee put the home team ahead. With Sprotborough only playing one man upfront the Lions defence was never really tested and it was only a matter of time before Warmsworth doubled their lead. Reece Ibbotson put in a great cross which was flicked on in the area before Lyndon Thompson came in at the far post to get his 10th goal of the season. In the second half the Lions wasted a couple of good opportunities to extend their lead. Warmsworth midfield play-maker Josh Grice time again put the away team on the back foot spreading the ball to all areas of the pitch for the Lions forwards to race onto. No further goals came in the second half despite Warmsworths best attempts. Special mention to Jack Finnerty who came in at left back and put in a solid performance.

Armthorpe Jnrs -v- Warmsworth Lions 2-2
13/01/08
Warmsworth lions title challenge took a backward step after a sequence of what can only be described as home biased decisions robbed the Lions of both points. Warmsworth dominated from the first whistle and wasted a hatfull of chances before the break. Goals from Aiden Hall and Lyndon Thompson put the lions firmly in control before the referee ignored an offside flag to let the home team pull a goal back. What followed was a total disregard of the football laws and Warmsworth were made to play for twenty minutes with no linesman and no offside rules. With the help of a biased referee and and no linesman to help the Lions defence the home team got an equalizing goal five minutes into added on time. Im sure the referee will have trouble sleeping tonight after his inadequate performance. Man of the Match - Jake McFatter Warmsworth Lions -v- Harworth 2-1
6/1/08
Warmsworth Lions kept up the pressure at the top of the table with avery hard fought win over Harworth.the Lions looked dissjointed after the christmas break and found it difficult
to gain any momentum against a team who were out avenge the 5-0 home defeat at the start of the season against the Lions.Chances were few in the first half but Lions keeper was the busier of the two.The second half was a vast improvement with the Lions taking the game to harworth with a much higher tempo the away team found difficult to cope with. Danny Bee opened the scoring for Warmsworth poking the ball into the far corner.A second goal soon follwed from captain Aiden Hall. Warmsworth should have gone on to score more but missed chances and a late strike from Harworth made it a tense last 5 minutes. Reece Ibbotson made a goal-line clearence in the last minute to save the points for Warmsworth. Man of the Match - Josh Grice
Warmsworth Lions -v- West End Bentley 1 - 0
9/12/07
Warmsworth lions kept the pressure on the top teams with a well deserved 1-0 win against title contenders West End Bentley. There were very few chances in the first half with both defences well on top of their respective attackers. Warmsworth shaded the first half and were unlucky not to have the lead at half time. The second half was much the same as the first with some tough but fair tackles giving the front men no time or space. The deadlock was finally broken when Aiden Hall latched onto a mistake from the West End keeper slotting into an empty net from 6 yards. The whole Lions team played magnificently but special praise goes to Mathew Payling for another dazzling display at left back...Ben Middleton for a superb man-marking job. Bessecarr -v- Warmsworth Lions 2nd round cup game 0 - 4 2/12/07
Warmsworth Lions continued the quest to retain the League Cup with a superb display in the 4-0 demolition of Bessacar. The Lions dominated the first half but found the Bessacar keeper in fine form pulling off numerous saves front the Lions front men. Jake McFatter was unlucky not to score with a fantastic left foot drive from 18 yards out and a deft little chip over the onrushing keeper were just a couple of his fine efforts. In the second half with Bessacar struggling to cope with the Lions attacking play it was only a matter of time before the home teams defences were broken. Lyndon Thompson twice broke clear from the half way line to score. Things got worse for Bessacar when they failed to deal with a cross and Danny Bee tapped in from 6 yards. Danny Bee got his second of the game with a penalty two minutes from time slotting the ball into the top corner with the Bessacar keeper rooted to his line. Man of the Match - Reece Ibbotson Askern -v- Warmsworth Lions 1-2
25/11/07
Warmsworth lions got back to winning ways with a hard fought but well deserved 2-1 victory over Askern. After a sluggish start the Lions started to dominate play with some great wing play from Ben Middleton and lyndon thompson. A host of great chances were wasted before Aiden Hall nodded home from 6 yards after great work from Ben Middleton. Askern came out in the second half determined to make a game of it and tried to battle their way into the game with some hard and sometimes over zealous tackling. Askern did equalize after a mistake in the Lions back four left the Askern striker clean through on goal. The setback only inspired the Lions to up their game and a great save from the Askern keeper and more missed chances kept the game level. Askern applied some late pressure to try and force a win hitting the post and having a certain goal stopped by a goal-line clearance by Lions right back Reece Ibbotson. With time running out Warmsworth finally got a deserved second and winning goal with the unstoppable Lyndon Thompson running from his own half to slot home the winning goal. Branton -v- Warmsworth Lions 3-3
4/11/07
Warmsworth gave the the premier favourites a real scare with a stunning display. From the first whistle the Lions had Branton on the back foot ,the home side hardly getting out of their own area.Lyndon Thompson terrorized the Branton defence with his pace, time and again getting past BOTH his markers and creating panic in the Branton ranks.Despite having total control of the game Branton scored first with their only effort of the first half.Within minutes though Warmsworth got a deserved equalizer with Mathew Payling slotting home a Josh Grice cross. The second half was much the same as the first,Warmsworth dominating but found themselves a goal behind from a Branton free-kick.The Lions showed great heart and finally got their rewards with Captain Marvel Aiden Hall first equalizing then giving Warmsworth a 3-2 lead with some cool finishing. With only three minutes left what would have been a stunning victory was snatched away as Branton scored a undeserved equalizer. Warmsworth suffered their second home defeat of the season with a 4-1 defeat to Carcroft. The second half was fairly even till Carcroft started to test the Lions defence with balls over the top for their speedy forwards to chase. Three quick goals inc a penaly gave Carcroft a comfortable lead with Curtis Clayton getting the Lions only goal. Man of Match - Christian Norton
Highway Colts -v- Warmsworth Lions 0-2
21/10/07
Warmsworth got back to winning ways with a hard fought 2-0 victory. Both teams found it difficult to overcome a difficult pitch and gain momentum. Warmsworth had the better of the first half and finally scored when a short corner routine worked perfectly and a fine cross from Josh Grice found Jake McFatter at the far post for a easy tap-in. The second half was a little more even with the Colts front men proving a nuisance to the Lions defence. Jake McFatter put the game out of reach for the Colts with a left foot shot which the Colts keeper should have saved but fumbled the ball into his own net. (no Man of the Match given)
Warmsworth Lions -v- Conisbrough & District 0-1
14/10/07
Warmsworth lost their 1st game of the season despite putting in their best performance so far ....right from the start Warmsworth played with a high tempo and totally dominated the 1st half, the Conisborough keeper time and again thwarting the Lions front men. The Warmsworth keeper was a mere spectator as the Lions put on a footballing lesson to the conisborough team. The second half was much the same with Lyndon Thompson going close with a fine header and Aiden Hall's chip just landing on the top of the net.The only goal of the game came totally against the run of play as the Conisborough winger got in behind the Lions defence and beat the advancing keeper with a neat finish. The Lions tried in vain to get the equalizer with numerous corners and efforts on goal but the Conisborough keeper continued to frustrate Warmsworth with fine handling and brave last ditch saves.
Man of the Match - Reece Ibbotson

7/10/07
Warmsworth maintained their 100% record with a mauling of Armthorpe Jnrs. Right from the kick off Warmsworth tested the fragile Armthorpe defence and it was only a matter of minutes before the Armthorpe keeper was picking the ball out of his net. in a blistering ten minute spell the lions scored five more goals before a rare Armthorpe attack ended in their only goal of the game.the second half started a little slower and Armthorpe played some of their best football but couldnt beat the in form lions keeper who's positioning and handling was superb.Warmsworth gradually took control and the unfortunate Armthorpe keeper was beaten a further six times. A special mention to Reece Ibbotson who set up 3 goals with fantastic crosses from the right wing..Jake McFatter for his sheer effort as well as a great hat-trick..and our captain marvel Aiden Hall for leading from the front and scoring 4 magnificent goals...
